For the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the “Act”), the data controller is Masai Mara Wilderness Lodge (UK) Limited of DS House, 306 High Street, Croydon CR0 1NG.


1.1 We may collect and process the following data about you:

(a) information that you provide by filling in forms on our site (“our site”). This includes information that you provide at the time of subscribing to any of our services or requesting certain services through our site, for example by making an accommodation booking using our automated online booking facility. We may also ask you for information when you report a problem with our site.

(b) information that you provide in instructing us to arrange your holiday, such as your name, postal address and email address, the names and other personal details of all parties travelling, including passport or other identity card details, and your payment details.

(c) correspondence where you contact us for any purpose.

(d) details of transactions you carry out through our site and of the fulfilment of your orders.

(e) details of your visits to our site and the resources that you access.

1.2 We may also ask you to complete surveys and/or customer satisfaction questionnaires that we use for research purposes, although you do not have to respond to or complete these.


We may collect information about your computer, including where available your IP address, operating system and browser type, for system administration. This is statistical data about our users’ browsing actions and patterns and does not identify any individual.


3.1 As part of our normal business procedures, our site uses cookies to distinguish you from other users of our site and to track patterns of behaviour of the visitors to our site. A cookie is an element of data that our site sends to your browser, which is then stored on your system. This helps us to provide you with a good experience when you browse our website and also allows us to improve our site. Any information collected in this way can be used to identify you unless you change your browser settings to prevent this from happening. 3.2 As set out in our Cookie Policy, certain third party affiliate network providers (including Digital Window Limited, trading as “”), and merchants within the affiliate network (such as Expedia), may use code or cookies on our site to track the performance of any relevant merchant’s marketing efforts. We do not capture any personally identifiable information in connection with this process, but we are unable to confirm the same in respect of the third party affiliate network providers. By submitting your personal data, you acknowledge and consent to the potential processing of your data by these affiliate network providers in connection with the performance tracking described.


4.1 The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”), including, in particular, in connection with the use of your information by our affiliated company in Kenya, Masai Mara Wilderness (Lodge) Limited (please see below for further information). It may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for one of our suppliers or affiliates. Such staff may be engaged in, among other things, the fulfilment of your order, the processing of your payment details and the provision of support services. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy, but we cannot guarantee that our Kenyan affiliate (or any other supplier or affiliate) will process and store your personal data using secure servers. By submitting your personal data, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing.

4.2 Subject always to clause 4.1, all information you provide to us is stored on secure servers. Any payment transactions will be encrypted and stored on PCI compliant servers.

4.3 Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.


5.1 We use information held about you in the following ways:

(a) to ensure that content from our site is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer.

(b) to organise, process and fulfil your request for any holiday that you would like to arrange through us, including any accommodation, flights, transfers and other ancillary leisure or travel services. This may involve one or more of our third party affiliates who provide us with the technology to enable you to book certain services via our site, or who are directly responsible for fulfilling a certain service (such as our Kenyan affiliate, Masai Mara Wilderness (Lodge) Limited, who will provide accommodation and related ancillary services). In fulfilling your order, we will need to process your bank and/or debit/credit card details for payment and billing purposes.

(c) to provide you with information, products or services that you request from us or which we feel may interest you (such as information on our resorts, including any safari and wildlife updates and any community projects), where you have consented to be contacted for such purposes.

(d) to carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and us.

(e) to allow you to participate in interactive features of our service, when you choose to do so.

(f) to notify you about changes and additions to our service, including any special offers or updates relating to our accommodation portfolio.

5.2 We may also use your data, or permit selected third parties to use your data (including, in particular, our affiliated company in Kenya, Masai Mara Wilderness (Lodge) Limited) to provide you with information about goods and services which may be of interest to you and we or they may contact you about these by post or telephone.

5.3 If you are an existing customer, we will only contact you by electronic means (e-mail or SMS) with information about goods and services similar to those which were the subject of a previous sale to you.

5.4 If you are a new customer, and where we permit selected third parties to use your data, we (or they) will contact you by electronic means only if you have consented to this.

5.5 If you do not want us to use your data in this way, or to pass your details on to third parties for marketing purposes, please tick the relevant box situated on the form on which we collect your data.

6.1 We may disclose your personal information to any member of our group, which means our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries, as defined in section 1159 of the UK Companies Act 2006.

6.2 We will disclose your personal information to our Kenyan affiliate, Masai Mara Wilderness (Lodge) Limited, where you have booked accommodation and any ancillary service (such as a wedding) with this company through us. As stated above, your personal data will be transferred and stored outside of the EEA for this purpose and by submitting your personal data you consent to this transfer, storing and processing.

6.3 We will also disclose your personal information to third party suppliers for the fulfilment of your travel arrangements, including (but not limited to) airlines and airline booking representatives, and any transfer, excursion and wedding service suppliers (as applicable).

6.4 We may disclose your personal information to third parties:

(a) in the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets.

(b) if Masai Mara Wilderness Lodge (UK) Limited or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held by it about its customers will be one of the transferred assets.

(c) if we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply our terms of use (available here: or terms and conditions of supply (available here: and other agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Masai Mara Wilderness Lodge (UK) Limited, our customers, or others. This includes:

(i) exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection, credit risk reduction and credit/debit card validation during purchasing; and

(ii) disclosing your identity to any third party who is claiming that any material posted or uploaded by you to our site constitutes a violation of their intellectual property rights, or of their right to privacy.

The Act gives you the right to access information held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with the Act. Any access request may be subject to a fee of £10 to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you.
